APS Salads: 100% LED verlichtingsinstallatie voor tomaten
APS Salads in het Engelse Kent is de eerste Engelse teler die gebruik maakt van 100% LED verlichting voor de teelt van zijn tomaten. Zoals Cambridge HOK, opdrachtgever het op haar website verwoordt, is het voordeel van het gebruik van LED verlichting: "Tailor made spectrums ensure that the energy invested in growth light technology is converted efficiently into light that the plant recognises.
By only utilising the necessary spectrums and not wasting energy on parts of the ‘Photosynthetically Active Radiation Curve’ that are not required by the plant, energy saving of up to 50% can be achieved." De recente, positieve resultaten die testen met LED verlichting bij andere projecten in Groot-Brittannië lieten zien hebben Phil Pearson van APS Salads ervan overtuigd dat een volledige LED installatie de toekomst is.
