A Partnership of Trust and Experience: Tas Paprika Awards Expansion Project to Havecon

Tas Paprika, a leading bell pepper grower, has once again entrusted Havecon with a major project. The new expansion covers a total of 23 hectares of greenhouses in Luttelgeest, the Netherlands. This project highlights the strong and long-standing relationship between Tas Paprika, Havecon, and the brothers Onno and John Tas.

Tas Paprika and Havecon share a long history of successful collaboration. In the past, Havecon has built several greenhouses for the company, resulting in a strong relationship. The brothers Onno and John Tas, owners of Tas Paprika, value quality, reliability, and trust, and in Havecon, they have found a partner who meets these standards. Over the years, the completion of various projects has reinforced the solid foundation of their partnership, and this new assignment confirms it once again.

The foundation work for the expansion recently began, and drainage work is expected to follow next week. Construction of the two greenhouses is scheduled for 2025, with the goal of starting the first crop in November of that year. This timeline reflects Tas Paprika’s growth pace and their commitment to innovation and expansion. With the addition of these new greenhouses, production capacity will significantly increase, enabling them to better meet growing demand.

About Tas Paprika
Tas Paprika was founded by the parents of John and Onno Tas, who started a cucumber farm in Berkel en Rodenrijs in 1963. In 1990, they switched to growing bell peppers, but due to limited space, John and Onno moved to Zevenhuizen in 2002, where they established Tas Paprika. Later, they expanded to Luttelgeest, where Onno started building a greenhouse in 2009. By 2017, Tas Paprika in Luttelgeest had grown to 32 hectares of greenhouses, where peppers are grown in an environmentally friendly manner using biological pest control methods.

The processing area at Tas Paprika is fully automated, with manual harvesting followed by machines that sort the peppers by color, weight, and size. The company works closely with growers' cooperative Oxin Growers, which provides knowledge and oversees the export of the products. The greenhouses are heated using a combined heat and power (CHP) system, which produces heat, electricity, and CO₂. Since 2022, this system has been partially combined with geothermal energy to further enhance the sustainability of production.

With the foundation laid and the planning underway, Tas Paprika looks forward to the successful completion of the new greenhouses in 2025.
