Havecon has been chosen as construction partner for the expansion of Hoogweg Paprikakwekerijen, phase 5

We have recently been awarded the contract by Hoogweg Paprikakwekerijen for the realization of phase 5. This phase involves approximately 31.5 hectares of production greenhouse, divided into 3 greenhouses. In the future, the location can be expanded with two additional greenhouses of around 10 hectares each. With this expansion, Hoogweg and Havecon are extending their longstanding relationship.

The new facility, located in Marknesse, will closely align with previous projects completed by Havecon in Luttelgeest and Marknesse. The expansion to this location marks the next milestone in the flourishing relationship between Havecon and Hoogweg, which originated in the year 2015.

The greenhouses will feature 12-meter trusses and a gutter height of 7 meters, with the steel structure also being coated white. Similar to the previous phases, the greenhouses will be equipped with diffused glass treated with a double AR (Anti-Reflection) coating. This allows more light into the greenhouse, which is beneficial for the production of the peppers.

In mid-February, in collaboration with the Voorwinden Groep, we commenced on-site with the initial piling and foundation works. The first perimeter foundations are in place, and we have also begun the necessary underground pipework for rainwater collection in the greenhouses. In close cooperation with all involved parties, Havecon and Hoogweg aim to plant the first peppers in December 2024.

About Hoogweg Paprikakwekerijen

Hoogweg Paprikakwekerijen is a leading company that cultivates peppers at five locations in the Netherlands, with a total of 160 hectares of greenhouses. The company's history began in 1987 in Nootdorp but later moved to the Noordoostpolder due to space constraints. Through efficient and sustainable cultivation methods, high-quality peppers are produced, primarily packaged as the popular paprika mix for supermarkets in the Netherlands and other European countries.
