Havecon receives HortiQ certificate

On Thursday 27 June, we received the HortiQ mark of quality from AVAG chairman Harm Maters. Havecon has become the 17th company to achieve HortiQ certification, which demonstrates an organisation’s commitment to quality.

“Quality is a top priority for us at Havecon. The certificate strengthens our efforts in this area, plus it helps us to maintain a critical view of our processes as the basis for making continuous improvements,” comments Julian Geelhoed, Research & Business Development Engineer at Havecon.

The Dutch greenhouse technology sector has a very impressive reputation internationally. “A label like HortiQ is very valuable in the growing national and international marketplace; it helps to further raise the profile of the Netherlands’ quality-focused image”, explains Maters.

High demands
The HortiQ certificate is awarded to companies following an audit of their internal processes, organisation and product quality. The audit criteria are based on the NEN standards as well as the standards that are defined in three quality manuals. Other HortiQ-certified companies include Svensson and Elektravon-Haket, which both received their HortiQ certificates in December.

Joining forces
In addition to developing the mark of quality, HortiQ has joined forces with Hagelunie to share knowledge in order to better meet the needs of international investors. The joint HortiQ/Hagelunie product offers a combination of quality and certainty in the run up to, during and after the construction of a sustainable high-tech greenhouse. For foreign investors this has a positive impact on risk management, including after completion of the greenhouse.

Independent quality
HortiQ-certified companies adhere to objective and independently recognised quality standards relating to greenhouse construction, water, fertilisers, heating and CO2. The certificate is proof of craftsmanship and guarantees that the supplier works in accordance with clear procedures and criteria when designing and constructing the high-tech greenhouse or technical equipment.
