Today, demissionary State Secretary Hanneke Boerma (Foreign Trade) visited Havecon Horticultural Projects in Bleiswijk. The visit focused on the international position of the Dutch greenhouse horticulture sector and how companies can further exploit their export opportunities. Trade barriers and strengthening cooperation between government and industry were also discussed.
The Netherlands as a leader in greenhouse horticulture
The Netherlands is one of the world's largest exporters of vegetables, fruit, and flowers. Modern, sustainable greenhouses play a key role in this. Export opportunities and barriers
Havecon builds complete greenhouse projects from design to delivery and now exports a large part of them to Europe and North America. In the past, Dutch greenhouse horticulture technology accounted for a combined turnover of approximately €4 billion, but that export position is under pressure due to international agitation and trade barriers. Chief Business Development Officer Adnan Tunović: "In the United States, there is an enormous construction challenge to make the food supply less dependent on imports. Dutch greenhouse construction can play a key role in this. That is why it is important to promote Dutch expertise in greenhouse construction in the United States.
