Today is the 14th birthday of the Dutch based company Havecon Horticultural Projects. Current times make it hard to host a party, but still the company has something festive to share. Their subsidiary Havecon North America Inc, founded in 2011, has purchased a property to build their new North American offices.
With its origin in the Netherlands, the global heart of greenhouse horticulture, Havecon Founder and CEO, Henk Verbakel, took the trip over the Atlantic Ocean in 2011 because of significant business opportunities he foresaw. With that, Havecon North America Inc. was created and operations began. After a few years of being in operation and working to gain market, Jon Adams joined the team as Vice President.
The two continued to grow the business. Havecon North America’s first office was officially opened in Niagara on the Lake (ON) in October 2018. "And now, just two years later, we are extremely proud to announce the purchase of an 8 hectare active Vineyard in St. Catharine’s Ontario which will soon become the new North American headquarters."
Havecon has a reputation for working fast and completing their builds without compromising the quality of its products and services. "In a strong horticultural market you sometimes take things for granted, and then sometimes something totally unexpected and completely out of your control happens. 2020, the year of COVID-19, has taught us all this lesson. From the uncertainty of the spring, to the flattening of the curve in the summer back to an ever-changing fall, companies have had to remain resilient and weather their own individual storms. We have also learned that given the right conditions and commitment, we can all emerge stronger than ever".
